day seven.

Baby sister was snoozing so so good this morning, then I woke her up to take the little boys to school, and realized that Owen had a slight fever, so we stayed home. And she couldn't be persuaded to sleep that well again. O is fine, I think it must've been from being burrowed under his covers so well, because I didn't give him any medicine and an hour later he was fine and was fine all day. Fingers crossed. I am too paranoid about the flu right now!!

6/365

day six.

I feel like I take a ton of pictures on/near/around our room lately. Especially the bed. But I can't help it, all the kids end up on it in the morning, Evie naps on it, the dogs cuddle on it. It's the place to be! (It's also the warmest place in the house which comes in handy with the crazy cold we're about to have).

day four.

always sticking out her tongue.

and the lip.

this was directed at Nana because she wasn't picking her up quick enough while I was taking pictures of the sad lip..."you're just going to let her take pictures of me crying!!?"

and Poppy and Owen snuggling her...Owen didn't want anyone holding "his girl", so he snuggled as close as he could.

day three.

I tried to slip out for a quick commissary trip with just the girls. Owen had to say bye to his Evie, and then he was devastated when I said he couldn't come in his pjs. He was so pitiful I ended up letting him get dressed and come along. Oh well, then it became a trip in the rain to buy groceries with just 3 kids instead of 5. Not too bad.

day two.

Someday I want to retake these in the morning when the bathroom is filled with beautiful light. But sticking with our word of the year, "authentic", we take baths at night so that we can snuggle into our beds all squeaky clean. So these are taken after dark, high ISO, embrace the grain style.

Owen wanted to wash Evie's hair tonight, he's so cute about wanting to do things for her. I hope he always wants to take care of her. (He tells me frequently that when he grows up he's going to live with Evie, and I can live there too if I want).

day one.

Gavin started the year off with a "little" luck. He found the biggest four leaf clover I've ever seen, and he wanted to me to save it :)

Then I stepped out in the rain (it's supposed to rain til Sunday- hooray!) for a look at dinner from outside looking in.

This year I picked a word to represent my/our life and one for my photography. I went with "intentional" and "authentic" for both. I'm really hoping to be more intentional in the time I spend with my family and friends this year. And I want to document our authentic life, not the polished facebook version. That's hard because who wants to see the mess? I'm trying to show that it can be a mess and still beautiful. We'll see how it goes.
